Snapshot Grid

Browse your files as they were at 10:15.

Snapshot Grid saves the state of a workspace as often as every fifteen minutes. Mount any snapshot as a read-only folder, look around, and pull back a single file or a whole tree after an overwrite, a bad merge or an accidental delete.

$ cloudeee snap mount 10:15

~/services/snapshot-grid

$ cloudeee snapshot-grid --features

What you get.

  • F-01

    Snapshots every 15 minutes

    Pick a cadence from fifteen minutes to daily. Each snapshot is a complete view of the workspace at that moment.

  • F-02

    Mount and browse

    Open any snapshot as a read-only virtual folder and use your normal tools to search, preview and copy from it.

  • F-03

    Restore exactly what you need

    Bring back one file, one folder or the entire workspace, without touching anything else that is still correct.

  • F-04

    Tiered retention

    Keep frequent snapshots for recent days, then thin them to daily and weekly points for months of history.

  • F-05

    Only changes are stored

    Snapshots record changed blocks rather than full copies, so dense history does not mean a dense bill.

  • F-06

    Preview before you restore

    See a diff of what will change and confirm it first, so a restore never causes a second accident.

$ cloudeee snapshot-grid --how

Four steps, zero fuss.

  1. Step 01

    Choose a cadence

    Set how often snapshots are taken for a workspace or a single folder, and how long each tier is kept.

  2. Step 02

    Snapshots accumulate

    In the background, Cloudeee records each moment on schedule. Your team keeps working and nothing slows down.

  3. Step 03

    Mount a moment

    When something goes wrong, pick the time just before it and mount that snapshot as a read-only folder.

  4. Step 04

    Restore with a diff

    Review what will change, restore the files you want and carry on. The current state is snapshotted first.

$ man snapshot-grid

Quick answers.

Q01Is a snapshot the same as a backup?
> Snapshots are fast, frequent recovery points inside your workspace. Cloudeee also keeps three copies of every file in separate zones, so the two work together.
Q02Will restoring overwrite my latest work?
> Not without warning. You see a diff first, and a fresh snapshot of the current state is taken before any restore runs, so you can undo it.
Q03Do snapshots count against my storage?
> Only the blocks that changed between snapshots are stored, so history usually adds far less than a full copy would.
